President Barack Obama is a bald faced liar and senior citizens will die thanks to this duplicitous Chicago politician.
Obama said while trying to pass his government takeover of your health care that you would be able to keep your doctor and health care plan. Like Jon Lovitz of Saturday Night Live, he lied and he knew it.
Last year we heard it over and over, I'm talking of course about President Obama's promise that if you like your plan you can keep it. Well forget it. Today it was discovered that another 700,000 Seniors will have to change plans, because health insurers are shutting down certain types of plans because of legislative changes and looming cuts to federal funding. That is on top of the announcement in August that three million seniors would have to get new providers.
Cigna Corp., Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, several Blue Cross Blue Shield plans and others aren't renewing hundreds of Medicare Advantage plans, which are Medicare policies administered by private insurers. The moves will displace some 700,000 beneficiaries who must find new policies, according to Humana Inc., a large seller of Advantage plans.
For 2011, the Kaiser Family Foundation said there will be a 13% decline in the number of Medicare Advantage plans. "

It Works Better Divided
Last week the voters of this country expressed outrage at the policies of a House and Senate that had run amuck. Independent voters, conservative democrants joined Republicans to what was the biggest ouster of politicians since 1948.
Our system seems to work better when we have that check and balance ...Demo President and Republican House and Senate. We saw that during the Reagan years. Great Growth. Then again in the last Clinton years, during the revolution that gave us contract with America.
We need to get back to the basics of spending what we earn. Allowing people to come to the US in an organized and orderly way. SSN needs huge reform and the list goes on.
Until some of this gets done it is business as usual and the Chinese and Russians continue to overtake us in GDP..
Wouldn't hurt to learn a second language..never know when you will need it.

Juan Landed On His Feet
For most people when they loose their job it can be devastation for most Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Consider how your attitude towards work would be if you have 2 years of expenses in cash in
a "I might get fired account". The answer is simple, you would think 24/7 YOU are the boss. None the less, loss no matter where or when it happens is a bitter pill to swallow. The older the worse it is. We all seem to want to be attached in some form or fashion. I never allow attachments so for me loss is no big deal. I guess my trade off is the warm fuzzy feeling you get when you attach VS. the devastation of loosing down the road.
Juan Williams was fired this week from NPR for what they thought was off color comments about Muslims.
You can debate this all day. Political motivations, rights of employers with contract workers, decent things to say and do in the work place but at the end of the day Juan had a loss.EGO real bruised as he is a very likable man on national TV. Financially he did better as FOX stepped up and gave him a new contract and his EGO will be eased by the out pouring of affection of so many.
At the end of the day it is still about attachments. If he gets into the warm and fuzzy bed with FOX stay tuned. I don't advocate this HARD distance between people and the forming of relationships.
I just say make sure you have lots of money in the bank and work each day like it is your last!

Acts Of Desperation
With about 3 weeks left between mid-term elections the REAL ugly faces of the campaigns are starting to show. Across the country reports are starting to show acts of desperation on the part of candidates who are trailing the polls.
In California the Jerry Brown camp has resorted to name calling (She is a whore) referring to Browns political nemesis Meg Whitman. How tragic but the interesting thing here in this election is that feminist have run to Brown despite the inroads that Whitman has made for women in Cali.. and is pro-choice..what more do they want. Oh it must be she is married to a man..that will throw out the NOW endorsement every time.
And then the Witch of Eastwick..give me a break..yes they are still pounding those drums on SNL.
What would those writers do if they didn't have political fatter to pander to.
Looks like so far the house going back to the Republicans is a certain...Senate is so close to call..
But there have been recently some Repubs voting with some Dems and vice versa on issues so close might be a win after all..
Remember though be careful what you wish for...to make a budget balance you have to not only hold revenue steady if you don't want to raise taxes but the almighty slashing of the budget must take place..
Louisiana has gotten more pork over the years than any other state...free spending here with Katrina and now the BP oil spill...all that has helped the Louisiana economy survive sluggish oil prices in this recession...
You just never know!

Health Chickens Come Home To Roost
It is more apparent now than ever before that the Obama Health care will soon turn into the biggest debacle since prohibition.
Today many people are receiving notices that the "Advantage Plans" that third party administrators have for years relied on are now being terminated around the country.
The health care bill mandated that there will be no money as part of cutbacks to fund this any longer. So the speeches that were giving by Obammi on the stump now have really turned into bold face LIES."If you like the plan you have now you will be able to keep it with no added cost"
It is heart breaking to hear people calling on morning talk shows crying as they have gotten these letters
telling of all this confusion. What person at age 75 wants to face added cost and a change in routine of care at such a vulnerable age.
This month Congress adjourned with no budget, to action on tax legislation set to expire, no update on thousands of people not being given money by BP adjuster and most of all a government who lies and has no accountability to the elderly.
Lesson learned...Point taken....

About time TV
America has always been mostly RIGHT of center with family values, economic policy and the prevailing winds. Both East and West Coasts have been and will always be the extreme and it is the South, mid west and the frontier that have provided stability.
This week tow networks NBC and CNN "(Nothing But Crap)(Clinton News Network) Fired both the head people running that organization. Finally there might just be some people over there that get the bias that has been at their organazations. Fox has people in their COMMENTARY that for sure lean right, but each segment has a moderate of left leaning person to balance opinion. Not true at the other networks..
All that people ask is things be "fair and balanced" and you make the call
It seems that they outcry has finally been heard..We shall see!

Extortion and Unions
Unions are made up of good people with different thought processes. It is like going into a field of bulls wearing red. Bulls are good animals. Very much needed to keep the food chain going. They are not hostile
animals. People make bulls mean. They make them do things by changing their behavior that alter who they are.
Union leaders do the same to rank and file members. Result is people who become less productive and mean spirited. They develop a mentality of entitlement. There is a documentary floating around about education done by a liberal west coaster talking about this very subject and the teachers unions negative impact on education. Government unions are running amok. All unions have exhausted their original purpose.
Time for union reform...We produce half of what we did post WWII. Sad but true our manufacturing
stinks and we employ slugs worrying about only breaks, vacations and fully paid health benefits.
With unions it is all about them.
To be able to compete again we need people who think forward about the missions... and not themselves
Imagine if all the military were unions...don't laugh..first "Don't ask..don't tell" next card carrying privates
who say I am on my break... tell the enemy they will have to wait to be killed..Geesh!

Getting Along
Since the very beginning Governments hated people; that is the dissenters, and People hated Governments; the ones that were not in power.
Back to the Caesars whom today still are the family since recorded time that have governed more that 3/4 of the people that have inhabited this earth.
People will disagree. The question then becomes what then can we govern by which we agree. Some simple principals:
1) Spend on those who are without that of which you have collected from those who have to give.
2) Enrich those with out and not those in power.
3) Limit to all and not overthrow others for gain
4) Manage government as if it is the last day of the operation
5) Limit service and power
Some basic principals that will work, yet NEVER gets done. In the few instances that it was achieved, prosperity reigned in to all and not just America.
For our government to get fixed we need new repair people and new manuals. The system need to go back to the design and not support just the improvements.
If we can do this then we can turn around things.

Balance: Easy to Achieve...Hard To Maintain
It is pretty simple when you look at geometry. The dimension of Balance is easy to achieve but very hard to maintain. From balancing check books to young girls on a beam at gym class. The beginning actions are easy to do at first but the longer you go into the routeen the harder it becomes. Running a country is no different.
In my first example with the check book the longer you keep that record in balance the better chance you have to sustain financial growth. In the second example, mastering the beam will surly get you an award or even further competitions with larger trophies. Running a country is different. The motivations are not financial nor or their attachments to prizes it is all about future electablility. Now in this generation, though people are rewarded for poor and even negative performance because the system is laced with bribes, and corruption. The loosers have become the American people.
Balance: The art of equality in a state of stability. Simple stated in the world of finance..Spend what you earn.
Unfortuatly that will not get you relected. People are lining up this election cycle and making decisions on not what person has the best resume to get elected. It is not where you went to school, your backround or even if you have a checkered past, but if you can employ the element of balance and common sense approaches to managing goverment and making smart decessions.
People are becoming jaded as they are loosing what they have worked so hard to save. 401 accounts are being halved and not only is the nest egg gone but the birds are no where to be found. This is not a good situation for the country to be in.
There are less than 50 days to the mid-term elections as of this writing and the people with the vision to get the message of balance out will be the winners. It won't be pretty and it won't be clean but for once it might just be balanced. On dollar in that Balanced check book is better than overdrafts and a medal for 3rd place on the beam is a whole lot better than a ticket home with nothing for a prize!

Federalist 41 and Obama Health Care "Friends or Foe"
This week some 20 states adjoined Florida and making a constitutional challenge to the new Health Care Bill. There seems to be several issues but the most glaring one is in fact does the Federal Government have the right to force people to buy health insurance.
In order to really understand that, one need only look what the intention of the framers were when they framed the whole concept of what the government can and can't to under this document called the constitution. Of course, it is all subject to interpretation but you can escape the cold hard facts of what is written in black and white.
If you go to Federalist 41, it appears what the intention was clearly.
Federalist 41 is: General View of the Powers Conferred by The Constitution James Madison
THE Constitution proposed by the convention may be considered under two general points of view. The FIRST relates to the sum or quantity of power which it vests in the government, including the restraints imposed on the States. The SECOND, to the particular structure of the government, and the distribution of this power among its several branches.
Under the FIRST view of the subject, two important questions arise: 1. Whether any part of the powers transferred to the general government be unnecessary or improper? 2. Whether the entire mass of them be dangerous to the portion of jurisdiction left in the several States?
Is the aggregate power of the general government greater than ought to have been vested in it? This is the FIRST question
This method of handling the subject cannot impose on the good sense of the people of America. It may display the subtlety of the writer; it may open a boundless field for rhetoric and declamation; it may inflame the passions of the unthinking, and may confirm the prejudices of the misthinking: but cool and candid people will at once reflect, that the purest of human blessings must have a portion of alloy in them; that the choice must always be made, if not of the lesser evil, at least of the GREATER, not the PERFECT, good; and that in every political institution, a power to advance the public happiness involves a discretion which may be misapplied and abused.
Pretty clear that the the powers vested "at least of the greater, not the Perfect good to advance the public happiness....
With the current system before the health care bill the vast majority of Americans(not illegals) were covered by health care and the division that that the new bill has caused not with standing the tax implications it is clear that I am predicting it will go to the "Supremes" and on a 5-4 vote be struck down...stay tunes on this one!

Connecting The Dots
It is pretty easy to look back now and see how after some 75 years how Senators being elected by people from their states can have this Camelot approach to their positions in US Government. It seems like they have taken on this air of invincibility. This is what the framers didn't want to happen. They wanted this to be a special body, insultaed away from as much corruption and influence peddling than possible.
Example: In the Minnesota race for senate Franken just edges out his opponet with votes "found" in the absentee status. It went to court and the court sided with Franken and gave him the election. Later that year when research was done on ballots it was found that over 500 voted for Fraken were convicted felons who were not eligible to vote any way. If this was for the House, then you would have to live with this guy for 18 months, then you can start from scratch with another person. A senator though, you have for 6 years. In addition it shifted the balance of power in the senate to give Democrats control of ALL branches of government. The framers were clear in The Federalist Papers that they wanted balance.
Government works best when you have a president of one party and House and Senate of opposite parties.
Example: Reagan in his last term with Democratic House, Republican Senate, and Clinton last 4 years Both House and Senate Republicans giving the US greatest growth of modern times.
It is my belief that we should repeal the 17 amendment like we did the amendment on prohibition (21st one)
because it is a bad deal for voters. If we would have the original version in place, you have about 36 state legislatures that are republican and probably then have a clear majority in the senate forcing comprise that we so desperately need. Government works best when there is forced compromise.

Birth to An End
May 1912 and April 1913 two huge dates in our American history and politics was rewritten those days.
It was the end of the Taft presidency and the beginning of the Wilson Era that the 17th amendment came to be born. This took away the State Senates right to vote for its senators to send to Washington to represent their respective states. The framers wanted protection, a sorta of layering between corrupt individuals and powerful groups influence . By this amendment senators were elected right from the people. This will prove to be 75 yrs later the beginning of direct corruption, vote peddling and control by union bosses and the likes. This is what the framers did not want. The reason this amendment was enacted because western states were dragging their feet electing their Senators and Washington at times was in session with maybe 90 senators.Even at times not a clear majority to get the business done and was causing a problem in government. Today this would not be the case.
Before Taft was president Teddy Roosevelt, Republican was not convinced this was the way to go and Taft another republican stood neutral on this. But then came Wilson Democrat and boy was he the liberal. Thank him for the income tax law and a slew of other laws that we live with today.
We will examine the politics on our next visit the reason and ramifications of what that amendment has done to modern day politics.

Understanding "Where" it began to see "How" it went wrong..so it can be fixed
In order to understand why Washington has grid lock and everything is so bi-partisian one has to go to the beginning. The Constitution is the beginning document which lays the framwork by which we have law in this country. When this document was being sold to the territories as a form of government, The Federalist Papers were written to help the colonies understand what was the purpose to this thing called the Constitution. They were the really only documents that talked about what the framers had in mind back then.
Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay wrote The Federalist Papers as were presented to each of the colonies as a "pitch to join these United States".
One of the areas I will examine is how from the beginning U S Senators were elected and why the framers wanted it that way. Federalist Article 62 written by Hamilton and Madison talks about the need to have 2 Senators from every state represent in this body as not to advantage either the small or large state but to create a body powerful to deal with the STATES business and that of the militia etc. So the U S Senators would be elected by the individual STATE SENATE Bodies to represent that particular state.
They wanted to have something different that how the House of Representatives were elected. The House did the peoples business the Senate did the States business, ratifications , treaties and the militia.
People elected members of the house , but State Senates elected the 2 from every state for the Senate.
This is how it was done from 1776 to 1912. Bet you didn't know that!
Stay tuned to see how all that changed in 1912 with the 17 amendment and how gridlock was born.
